Henry is a reading light you don't hide away. When it's not resting on your shoulder illuminating a page, it looks perfectly at home on the armchair, in the bookshelf, or on the bedside table. The Trevira CS velour is pleasantly soft, the body compact and light enough to wear for hours – and structured enough to hold its own as a design object. Claudia Hüskes developed Henry in 2014 at her Düsseldorf label jundado. As a two-time winner of the Red Dot Design Award, she stands for design that consistently unites function and aesthetics. Henry is not a compromise between technology and aesthetics – it is both simultaneously: a serious reading light with 9 Luminus XNOVA Cube LEDs (CRI 89, 3,300 K) and an object that suits any living environment.

The three colour options – Grey, Black, and Black-and-white striped – are deliberately neutral. Henry fits into Scandinavian-inspired interiors as naturally as modern-minimalist or warm-rustic ones. Between book spines on a shelf, it is simply at home.

Henry rests on your shoulder and illuminates your book, needlework, or magazine exactly where you hold it. No floor lamp to reposition. No cable in the way. No partner getting blinded. On brightness Level 1 (40%) Henry shines for up to 8 hours – for reading evenings that stretch late into the night. Level 2 (100%) is for particularly fine print or needlework that requires more light.

The outer material is Trevira CS velour – flame-retardant and certified to the Oeko-Tex standard. The fabric has a pleasant feel that holds up well with regular use. The technical core (9 Luminus LEDs, rechargeable NiMH battery with approx. 500 charge cycles) is manufactured in Berlin; the body is hand-sewn in a plush toy workshop in Thuringia. The USB charging cable lives in Henry's belly pouch – always there, never lost.

First use (deactivating the key lock): Henry is shipped with the key lock activated. Hold the silicone lens on the tip of his nose until the red light comes on – then release. From now on, a short press is all it takes.

Operating the light: One short press = Level 1 (40%, 8 hrs runtime, comfortable reading). Another short press = Level 2 (100%, 4 hrs runtime, for fine print or needlework). Another short press = light off.

Charging: Open the small belly pouch on Henry's underside using a paperclip or similar tool (child safety lock) – remove the USB cable and connect to a PC, powerbank or USB mains adapter. Charging time approx. 5 hours. Henry glows green when fully charged. Charging should only take place under adult supervision.

Care & battery tips: The technical components must not get wet – clean with a slightly damp cloth only. Do not microwave, do not use as a heat pad. Recharge the battery at least once a quarter to prevent deep discharge. The battery lasts approx. 500 charge cycles.

Where do you put Henry when it's not in use?

Henry looks good anywhere: on the armchair, in the bookshelf, on the bedside table, or simply on the sofa. The compact body (50 cm, approx. 440 g) finds a place everywhere and works as a decorative object. Many owners display Henry deliberately – as a reminder that they'll need it again shortly.

Which colour suits which interior style?

Grey is the most versatile option and works with almost any decorating style. Black suits modern, minimalist interiors particularly well. Black-and-white striped is more graphic and adds a playful accent to bookshelves or light-filled rooms.

How heavy is Henry on the shoulder?

Henry weighs approx. 440 g – about the same as a thick paperback. The soft velour cover distributes the weight comfortably, so Henry is barely noticeable even during long reading sessions. Owners describe it as "snuggles in without pressing".

How long does the battery last, and how is it charged?

On Level 1 (40% brightness) Henry shines for up to 8 hours. On Level 2 (100%) it's up to 4 hours. The USB charging cable is stored in Henry's belly pouch – use a paperclip to open it (child safety lock). Charges via PC, powerbank or USB adapter in approx. 5 hours.

Is Henry's light easy on the eyes?

Yes. The 9 Luminus XNOVA Cube LEDs have a colour temperature of 3,300 K and a CRI of 89 Ra. This produces natural, non-bluish light that is very comfortable for long reading sessions. Several owners report that their eyes fatigue noticeably less since switching to Henry.

Can Henry be used for needlework?

Extremely well. On Level 2 (100%) Henry delivers focused, bright light – ideal for knitting, crocheting, embroidery, or fine print. The shoulder position keeps both hands free while the light falls exactly where you are working.

How do you switch Henry on for the first time?

Henry is shipped with the key lock activated. Hold the silicone lens on the tip of his nose until the red light appears – then release. After that, one short press for Level 1, another for Level 2, another for off.

DELIVERY

Deliveries are made within Germany, Austria, Switzerland and all other countries in Europe to the delivery address you provide. Delivery takes place during normal business hours.

The shipment will take place when the invoice amount has been fully credited to our account, direct by us or the design label.

The average delivery time for orders in the BLICKFANG Design shop varies, but is stated on the respective product page. Earlier delivery is usually not possible, as the date depends on suppliers and manufacturers. Due to the necessary customs procedures, deliveries from and to Switzerland, the UK and Liechtenstein have longer delivery times.

If you have ordered a product from a scheduled sales promotion, it will not be shipped until the end of the promotion.
