THE SCHOOL OF LIFE
Clean design, intelligent essays -- a book that works on the shelf as well as in the hand.
The School of Life has established itself since its founding in 2008 as one of the most influential voices in emotional intelligence and psychological wellbeing. Its hardcover editions are known for their consistently clean, minimalist design -- books that function as objects. "Reasons to Be Hopeful" is an essay collection on the justified reasons to stay on the side of hope: philosophically grounded, without self-help clichés, in a tone that is both intelligent and kind.
The book gathers the most persuasive arguments for staying on the side of optimism, creativity, kindness and calm -- without sentimentality, without cynicism. The essays cover curiosity, love, beauty and connection -- and why you don't need perfection for something to feel good enough. Specific, not abstract. Intelligent, not preachy.
The School of Life writes for people who normally avoid self-help books. The essays reason rather than preach -- and whoever opens this book closes it with a different perspective on life. Not because they were lectured, but because they see things they didn't let themselves see before.
The School of Life's hardcover editions are consistent in their design approach: clear typography, restrained colour palette, quality materials. The 197 x 145 mm format is compact without feeling small. A book that can stand openly on a shelf without looking out of place -- equally at home in living spaces, workspaces or reception areas.

Who is the book for?
For readers seeking philosophically grounded perspectives on life -- without self-help clichés. Particularly effective for people in transitional phases, or for those sceptical of optimism who need good arguments for it.
How is the hardcover edition designed?
Clear typography, restrained colour palette, quality hardcover binding. School of Life books are known for their consistent, minimalist design -- they function as room objects as much as reading material.
Is the book in English?

Is there a German edition?
We carry the English original edition by The School of Life. For an international or bilingual audience, this is the preferred edition.
What does reading the book actually do to you?
The essay collection does something unusual: it takes the difficulty of life seriously without complaint -- and argues for hope without glossing over anything. You put the book down feeling that the reasons for optimism actually hold up. Not a motivation book, but an intelligent conversation -- one you'll want to pass on.
What sets The School of Life apart from other publishers in this space?
The School of Life combines philosophy, psychology and everyday culture in an accessible writing style. Their books avoid technique-based approaches and motivational language -- they reflect rather than instruct. Consistent in both design and content: minimalist, intelligent, well-crafted.
