SHEYN · Nicolas Gold
Nicolas Gold’s Blend Collection translates organic sculpture and FDM 3D printing into a miniaturised duo that commands attention on every shelf and desk from the very first moment.
Bloz Mini and Boyk Mini are two central forms of the Sheyn Blend Collection – designed in 2026 by Nicolas Gold in the Vienna studio, IDA Nominee 2025 (International Design Awards), stocked at the South Bank Centre London and Becker Minty Australia. Each vase measures 65 × 65 × 65 mm; the set weighs 200 g. Cotton Candy lays a soft rosé-to-white gradient across the entire PLA surface.
How do you integrate the Bloz & Boyk Mini set into a minimalist shelf arrangement?
The compact 65 mm allows flexible combination with books, larger vases and other sculptural objects without dominating. Cotton Candy acts as a neutralising accent in arrangements with dark wood, concrete or black, adding warmth without contrast risk.
What formally distinguishes Bloz Mini from Boyk Mini?
Bloz Mini works with an organically asymmetric blob silhouette that draws attention through its apparent weight – the actual lightness of the PLA surprises when you pick it up. Boyk Mini presents rounded, more compact geometry with a clear vertical tendency. The formal contrast between the two vases is intentional and makes the duo more interesting than two identical objects would be.
Which interior styles suit the Sheyn Mini vases?
The sculptural formal language and the subtle Cotton Candy gradient harmonise with contemporary, Scandinavian and post-minimalist interiors. The set also works in industrially influenced spaces as a deliberate, warm counterpoint to raw surfaces and dark materials.
What does the IDA Nomination 2025 mean for the Blend Collection?
The International Design Awards (IDA) are among the established international design recognitions. The Blend Collection’s 2025 nomination confirms the conceptual consistency of the gradient approach as a design statement – and places Sheyn alongside brands stocked at the South Bank Centre London and Becker Minty Australia.
How does the Blend effect differ from an ordinary colour gradient?
The Blend effect emerges directly in the FDM printing process through controlled material switching between two tones. It is not digitally painted on or applied afterwards, but an integral part of the material structure. Because 50% recycled PLA is used, the gradient’s intensity varies minimally from piece to piece – a characteristic that fundamentally excludes mass production.
Are Bloz Mini and Boyk Mini also available individually?
Yes, both vases are also available as individual pieces at Charles & Marie. The set offers the advantage of a coordinated gradient from the same production run.
Bloz Mini works with an organically asymmetric blob silhouette that polarises through its apparent weight and actual lightness. Boyk Mini presents rounded geometry with an asymmetric silhouette that captivates from every angle. Both forms share the same Blend gradient and form a coherent duo despite their formal contrast.
The Blend effect arises directly during the FDM printing process through controlled material switching – it is not applied afterwards, not a digital gradient. The result is an organic gradient that covers the entire three-dimensional surface and cannot be reproduced with conventional manufacturing methods.
Sheyn uses PLA from corn and sugarcane, with 50% recycled PLA. This share causes minimal colour variations between pieces – each item is unique in its nuance. Production is exclusively on-demand at the studio in Vienna, Lerchenfelder Strasse 7/IV, 1070 Vienna. The removable glass insert is included; the PLA shell is not waterproof.
